Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper for our hospitality team located in North Charleston, South Carolina. This role involves the management of financial records, payroll processing, and the supervision of junior accounting staff. This contract to hire opportunity offers a long-term position within our team, giving you the chance to develop and refine your skills in a dynamic workplace environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of financial statements to ensure accuracy and timeliness

• Manage accounts payable and receivable to maintain financial transparency

• Conduct bank and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting

• Handle payroll processing tasks to ensure employees are compensated correctly and on time

• Prepare quarterly tax filings to comply with federal and state laws

• Execute month-end closings to finalize financial activities for each month

• Monitor and track fixed assets while preparing accurate depreciation schedules

• Supervise accounting clerks and junior bookkeepers to ensure efficient operation of the accounting department

• Prepare the trial balance to ensure all financial data is balanced and accurate

• Utilize QuickBooks for accounting tasks and financial management. Requirements • Proficient in QuickBooks software

• Mastery of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Journal Entries and Journal Entry Preparation

• Familiarity with Ledger Journal Entries and Month-end Journal Entries

• Ability to Post Journal Entries accurately and efficiently

• Skilled in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Previous experience in a similar role within the Hospitality industry

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrable attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

• A minimum of a high school diploma, though an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
