Description Robert Half is looking for a Staff Accountant for a long-term contract / temporary to hire role. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Houston, Texas region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.
Responsibilities
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed Requirements - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Current and relevant ERP system experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to meet deadlines
Sales tax experience preferred
Solid understanding of account reconciliation
Accounts Payable (AP) experience
Property Tax experience
Bank reconciliations experience
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
