Each individual will be handling up to 2 manufacturing plants in the region & the responsibilities detailed below are in relevant to those allocated plants
In-Plant Obsolescence
Ensure all Obsolete & potentially obsolete stocks arising out of Balance outs, PDLs & running Engineering changes are reviewed with Global commodity engineers (LVEA), PD/PVT, Suppliers, STA, Purchase, FCSD and Plant MP&L teams to identify opportunities of salvage by means of re-work/re-export/re-use in models across Ford in all regions.
Identify all obsolete & potentially obsolete materials arising due to Engineering Changes & Model phase out. Review with CFT (Commodity Engineers, Suppliers, Service division ) to identify opportunities to salvage ( re-work, re-export, re-use, return )
Proactively engage with
Manufacturing plants ahead of implementation curve/Balance out dates to understand any potential opportunities to use stocks before implementation of change.
Launch & New model program teams to arrive at opportunities to re-use obsolete stocks for upcoming prototype builds.
Sales Planning & Plant material planning teams to arrive at right volume lock plan for all future balance out programs, ten months prior. Obtain approval in Sales & Production control forums.
Engage with Plant Material Planning to arrive at potential obsolescence estimates arising due to various reasons & obtain approvals.
In event of re-export, work together with Customs, Network logistics function, packaging & Finance teams to arrive at transfer price and for physical execution of shipment.
As value-add, analyze the root cause of high value parts turning potentially obsolete & aim to fix the issues at the origin
Drive physical disposition on timely basis and write off obsolete inventory as per Finance manual.
Supplier Obsolescence
Derive Ford liability portion of Supplier obsolescence claims in line with Ford obsolescence policy guidelines & ensure payment within the agreed lead time
All supplier claims needs to be checked for salvaging & only the final liable qty is paid to suppliers
Train all suppliers in Obsolescence tool & the Supplier Obsolescence Policy
Metrics – Asia Pacific & Africa
To ensure the total year provisions + scrap do not exceed the budget approved for each of the markets
Run daily / weekly reports from system tools to identify parts that are in Obsolete status & ensure compliance to guidelines
Compliance to Scrap cost avoidance target for the region & individual plants
Education : B.E. / B.Tec.
Professional Exposure:
3 yrs + experience in any of the following: Supply Chain Management (Preferred), Pre-Production Management (PPM), Supplier Constraint Mgt., Capacity Planning or Purchasing in Manufacturing/Engineering industry.
Special Knowledge or skill required:
Good English oral and written communication skills.
Supply chain & high-level Engineering change process knowledge is a must.
Internal candidates should have an overall knowledge on cross functions teams responsibilities (PVT, LVEA, Plant MP&L, STA, Quality & customs, network logistics, packaging, Trading companies, suppliers, Finance, etc)
Good analytical, MS Excel & negotiation skills
Familiarity in Material management ERP, change control will be preferred.
Automotive product knowledge is an added advantage.
