  Job Description Summary

  In this fulltime role, the Biomedical Technologist will maintain biomedical equipment; to evaluate, diagnose, repair and perform planned maintenance (PM), driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence. Service area includes hospitals in and around Windsor, Ontario. Flexible hours of work are required.

  It is a condition of hire that any new employees that will provide products or services to a GE Healthcare customer facility are fully vaccinated and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. All offers of employment are conditional upon the satisfaction of this requirement. “Fully vaccinated” means that any such person must have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination approved by Health Canada. The second dose of vaccine must have been administered at least 14 clear days before commencing employment.

  Job Description

  Position Responsibilities:

  With minimal supervision, evaluate progressively complex, customer biomedical equipment issues

  Implement appropriate repairs, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety/environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations.

  Follow appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation, meeting strict quality measurable metrics outlined in the contractually agreement between GE HealthCare and their customers.

  Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction. Implement GE / customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.

  Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area or region. Share on-call / pager responsibility.

  Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.

  Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.

  Comply with all required customer policies including Health and Human Services, Privacy, and Environment Health & Safety.

  Perform other related duties as assigned including but not limited to active participation in customer committees

  Required Skills:

  Ability to quickly learn and utilize various corporate or computer-based applications

  Maintains the work area as clean as possible during and after work

  Performs corrective and preventive maintenance as per manufacturer specifications and compliant with policies and procedures outlined in Biomed Policy and CSA Standards

  Maintains personal activity records for department including opening and closing work requisitions on the computer

  Maintains dialysis equipment, if certified to do so

  Provide Clinical input to users as needed for evaluations and purchase decisions

  Minimum Education and Experience:

  Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology / Engineering (Min 3 years).

  Eligible for or working towards, Certification by the International Certification Commission ( ICC ) as a CBET(c).

  Ability to perform effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment, including but not restricted to:

  Anesthesia and ventilator equipment

  Bedside and central monitoring

  Biomedical equipment asset management system

  Patient monitor information and database systems

  Physiological measurement devices

  Proficient computer skills including a functional knowledge of common business software such as MS Office.

  Basic Networking / IT infrastructure.

  5 years of experience using Mechanical Tools and understanding of basic mechanical problems.

  Previous experience developing and maintaining good customer relationships.

  A valid Ontario driver’s license.

  Desired:

  Current GE Biomedical Experience.

  Advanced Networking/IT

  Advanced Biomedical Diploma with GE specific site Practicum Experience.

  Current technical training in GE products eg Aisys, BX50, Diagnostic Cardiology, etc.

  OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists) membership.

  Goals & Objectives

  Compliance with GE policies and procedures

  Compliance with all Quality and EHS regulations

  In depth knowledge of Customer Facility Programs

  Awareness GE’s Biomedical Technologies Business Goals and Objectives

  Support initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Score.
