Goal of our Sheltered Hearts Program Our goal is toprovide safe and timely reunification for a child and their family orsuitable sponsor. In partnership with the Department of Health and HumanServices, the Sheltered Hearts Program provides family reunification andshort-term shelter for children who have entered the United Stateswithout a guardian. Children reside in our family-style cottage locatedon our 2,000-acre campus while our bilingual staff provide a safe andnurturing environment for children. Job Responsibilities - Facilitatelesson plan instructions to students, including 1:1 and small groupprovides input and helps facilitate social and emotional learningcomponents of lesson plans. - Develop and issue educational contentincluding notes, tests, and assignments. - Supervise classes to ensureall students are learning in a safe and productive environment. -Organize supplies and resources for lectures and presentations. -Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraginginteractive learning. - Plan and implement educational activities andevents. - Presenting lessons in a comprehensive manner and usevisual/audio means to facilitate learning. - Providing individualizedinstruction to each student by promoting interactive learning - Creatingand distributing educational content. - Ensure your classroom is cleanand orderly. - Allocate and grade homework, assignments, and tests. -Responsible for observing, implementing, monitoring and completingspecific reports regarding student performance and behaviors in theclassroom. - Responsible for providing pre-crisis intervention andconflict resolution with student, including implementing and usingTherapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) principles, approved behaviormodification techniques/strategies and physical restraints. - Thisposition will comply will all federal, state and local laws andregulations, including those or ORR, ICE and the NYS Office of Childrenand Family Services. Job Requirements - Certified by the StateDepartment of Education for New York State - Practical TeachingExperience of 5 years plus, preferred - Varicella Vaccine required ORtiters indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from a healthcareprovider verifying previous infection. - MMR (Measles Mumps & Rubellavaccine required OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases. -Tdap (Tetanus-diptheria-pertussis) vaccine required. - Influenza vaccinerequired, one dose annually during flu season. - Covid: Being fullyvaccinated means you have received a primary COVID vaccination series,plus one (1) booster COVID vaccination if you are eligible to beboosted. You are eligible to receive a booster COVID vaccination 4-5months following your primary COVID vaccination series, depending onwhich type of COVID vaccine you received during your primary COVIDvaccination series. - Physical (Medical Exam) required. - Must be ableto work 9AM-5PM during new hire orientation to complete TCI(TherapeuticCrisis Intervention), CPR and Sanctuary training. Must maintain TCI andCPR certification. - Required to be 21 years or older. - Must have acurrent, valid driver\'s license per Agency guidelines.
