Talbot is an international insurer and reinsurer operating within the Lloyd’s market through Syndicates 1183 and 2019. We have been part of AIG since 2018 and our ambition is to be AIG’s Centre of Excellence at Lloyd’s. Headquartered in London, Talbot has offices in New York and Singapore and over 300 people working across these three locations.
What you need to know:
This is a fantastic role within our Data & Analytics department where you will have the opportunity to work on some really interesting and challenging projects, and a very ambitious strategic programme of work.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
Work with our Solution Architect and Tech Lead to define technical implementation approaches for BI solutions (incl. Talisman Data warehouse solution).
Develop and Unit Test ETLs, Cubes, Databases, Reports and Dashboards.
Provide technical guidance to developers and testers in resolving technical issues.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem solving, and proactively identify solutions.
Encourage developers to follow standards and good practices during the development process.
Conduct code reviews and ensure that quality standards are followed in the development process.
Collaborate and contribute to the development of Talisman and other data solutions.
What we’re looking for:
Effective communication both verbal and written
Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with Scrum methodologies, within in a data context
Experience of working in a multi-stream development environment using the full range of state-of-the-art Microsoft BI technologies.
Proficient in SQL Server, SSIS (Integration Services), SSAS (Analysis Services) and SSRS (Reporting Services)
PowerBI experience desirable
Proven ability to solve challenging technical problems independently
Capable of understanding data models and interrogating data
Able to document business logic and produce high quality documentation.
In depth understanding of the principles of data warehouse development.
Experience and knowledge of all aspects of the data warehouses concepts, processes and feeds
Working with DevOps / BI code management experience in TFS
Understanding of insurance data desirable
Experience with Amazon AWS desirable
