VHC Health is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical /Surgical unit, also known as 7B! 7B has 24 private rooms and the patient population includes adult to geriatric. In 7B we treat acute and chronic illnesses in a fast-paced environment. Patients on this unit receive wide ranging medical and surgical interventions. You will be working in a collaborative environment in which the healthcare team works closely together, bringing skill, experience and mutual respect to providing holistic, patient centered care. Our biggest accomplishment in 7B is quality. We have not had a CLABSI since 2017 and a CAUTI since 2018. We are also the peritoneal dialysis champions for the hospital, taking care of the peritoneal dialysis patients and assisting other units if needed. Our unit is a great environment to learn many skills. We take care of a variety of patients who require complex modalities such as chest tubes, biliary drains, wound vacs, PCA pumps and insulin pumps. It is a great place to learn technologies, critical thinking and problem solving skills in a non-judgmental environment. Staff are supportive and fostering of new staff and new graduates, wanting all to succeed. We have great teamwork and a collaborative environment working with all members of the health care team driven to produce great outcomes for our patients. Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
Across all levels, the registered professional nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of their assigned patients. The RN is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with management and supervisory skills are inherent in the position. The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are required for this position.
Education:
Associate's in Nursing Required
Experience:
One year of Nursing/Patient Care is required
Certification/Licensure:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required or,
Compact State Licensure in Nursing required
BLS certification required
