About the Team Lakewood Reflections Mental Health Inpatient program offers intensive and comprehensive individualized mental healthcare in an inpatient setting for adults 55 and older. With a fresh leader ready to support your short and long-term career goals, Reflections Geriatric Mental Health Inpatient Unit is a great place for any season of your nursing career. As a team, we work together to cover the 24/7 needs of the unit, offer flexible scheduling with eight or 12-hour shifts, consistent block scheduling, full or part-time hours, and the option to rotate every fourth weekend if desired. Mission for Position A Behavioral Health Care Staff/Certified Nursing Assistant (BHS/CNA) performs selected patient care activities, including observing and recording patient information pertinent to the treatment plan and reporting this information to the Registered Nurse. This position is also responsible for escorting and monitoring patient activities and attending to their personal needs. The (BHS/CNA) must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies, and working as a clinical team member. Position Summary Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; and provide line-of-sight or one-to-one support to patients as ordered by the physician Check and document luggage and personal belongings upon admission; maintain patient property list Monitor and document patient's food and fluid intake; feeding patients as required Complete and document 15-minute (or less) visual checks on patients per unit/hospital policy Assist with ambulating and lifting patients as needed Maintain continuity among teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friends Perform treatment intervention following the patient's diagnosis, needs, and physician orders. Observe patients to report and record symptoms or changes appropriately Attend to patient's personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, ambulating etc.) as required following physician orders Complete all required documentation relevant to patients promptly and efficiently. Qualifications Qualifications Successful completion of the State of MN Nursing Assistant Program exam. CNA licensure is not required upon hire. Lakewood will provide training and education to prepare for CNA licensure exam Licensure must be obtained within six months of hire to continue employment. This position in a health care facility is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Working holidays and work during inc ement weather will be required.
