JOB REQUIREMENTS: Test drive vehicles and test components and systems,using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges,and computerized diagnostic devices. Repair, reline, replace, and adjustbrakes. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors. Alignvehicles\' front ends. Align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, andsteering mechanisms of automobiles, using special alignment equipmentand wheel-balancing machines. Perform routine and scheduled maintenanceservices, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups. Followchecklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts,hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheelbearings, and other potentially troublesome areas. Maintain cleanlinessof work area. Change spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, andbatteries in hybrid electric vehicles. Repair and service airconditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems. Overhaulor replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, andpumps. Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, andbearings. Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels. Tuneautomobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Must have experience asa Service Technician or Automotive Technician. Must have anunderstanding of and ability to use diagnostic equipment and diagnosewithout equipment. A willingness to continue training and certificationsis also useful.
