JOB SUMMARY-SLP Augmentative Communication Specialist
The Augmentative Communication Specialist is responsible for the support of students, staff, and caregivers in the selection and implementation of augmentative communication systems, switch interfaces, computers, software, and cameras to maximize student participation in the Easterseals School Program. The Augmentative Communication Specialist will be assigned to provide direct speech-language therapy services when necessary. The Augmentative Communication Specialist will be required to provide services in each of the three school sites.
QUALIFICATIONS-Augmentative Communication Specialist
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.PA License in Speech-Language Pathology required.PA Professional Teacher Certification in Speech and Language Impaired (or equivalent) required.Completion of education credits needed to maintain license/certifications required.Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred. Three + years of experience working in augmentative communication preferred and Assistive Technology Certificate preferred.Acceptable Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History and Department of Education FBI Clearances required.Passing of physical examination and TB required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES-Augmentative Communication Specialist
Complete routine documentation accurately and within prescribed timeframes. This may include, but is not limited to daily therapy notes, classroom data sheets, parent contact logs, progress reports, screening summaries, contract letters, test protocols, follow-up forms, handout requests, and annual statistics.Maintain appropriate communication and collaboration with caregivers and outside agencies regarding recommendations, referrals, and student progress.Serve as a representative of ESWCPA programs and services to consumers, caregivers, and contracting agencies.Maintain, inventory, and suggest additions/revisions of program equipment and materials.Comply with agency HIPAA policies and procedures as related to consumer confidentiality, release of, and request for information.Participate in multidisciplinary team and departmental meetings as scheduled.Supervise speech-language pathology students when assigned.Assist team members at each school site in identifying, evaluating, procuring, and implementing augmentative communication systems to meet the educational needs of students. This includes the coordination of team system evaluations.HOURS AND BENEFITS-Augmentative Communication Specialist
Work 9.5 months per year, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 1332.5 hours per year.
