SUMMARY
The Audio/Visual (AV) group is accountable for fulfilling all AV requirements of the institution, offering technical and AV support for event productions, development events, museum programming, rental events and internal operations. These events include live acoustic and amplified music, performance, digital and analog film screenings, lectures, audio-visual production, and post-production. The AV group also has the duty of maintaining, repairing, and installing AV equipment for the museum. Furthermore, they oversee the management of the Wattis Studio and the Forum. The Audio/Visual Manager provides oversight of the day-to-day AV management and operations. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Audio/Visual.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Audio/Visual:
Manage day-to-day AV workflow.
Hire, supervise, train, and schedule on-call AV staff.
Oversee event/program workflow, which involves consulting with both internal and external clients, creating event logistic plans, coordinating A/V staff schedules, and monitoring the execution and performance of events.
Assess all audio/visual needs, assigns work and ensures projects meet objectives and deadlines.
Oversee incoming AV requests- assign to AV technicians when appropriate, request additional information if needed or escalate to Senior Manager if further discussion required.
Conduct walkthroughs with rental clients, internal stakeholders, and external artists and collaborators to explore and discuss AV options.
Iteration: Research and stay current with new and emerging technologies and platforms.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the Senior Manager to conceive, design and develop audio/visual systems, technical improvements, system upgrades; processes and procedures to ensure excellent technical execution for all needs.
Facilitate flow of communications within the Museum Experience Division and with the Central Community, Marketing, IT, CAI, IA, Operations and other groups across the institution.
Assist the Senior Manager in evaluating systems and equipment that require repair or maintenance.
Provide support during events as required.
Flexibility: Willingness to work varied hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
5 years hands-on Audio/Visual experience
2 years of supervisory experience
Excellent organizational, troubleshooting and communication skills
Ability to show diplomacy in dealing with guests, staff, on-call event personnel, patrons and trustees. Ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision
Experience executing professionally within a vast array of technical spaces and needs
Experience operating and troubleshooting a variety of media systems, AV and production equipment. Knowledge of standard AV technologies, web, video, and audio conferencing and video streaming. Experience working with sound and lighting systems in live performance settings
Proven ability to be extremely detailed oriented, precise and flexible
Demonstrated experience working on large events and managing multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
Familiarity and comfort with multimedia tools, including Adobe Premiere, QuickTime, VLC, Photoshop, Audio editing/mixing programs, iMovie, Keynote, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Suite
AV maintenance and repair skills
Able to set goals and meet deadlines
Understanding of and staying connected to an ever changing world of technical advances
