About Athletics Facilities Coordinator

  The Athletics Facilities Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily and event operations for the Facilities and Event Management unit within the Department of Athletics. Duties include, but are not limited to, performing and coordinating maintenance tasks, assisting with event set-up and breakdown, maintaining equipment, and identifying/logging deficiencies and taking corrective actions.

  Duties and Responsibilities

  Perform building walk throughs to identify and record deficiencies and take corrective action

  Identify issues with building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC and address appropriately by submitting necessary work orders

  Coordinate basic maintenance tasks to address these issues, as well as be willing to complete a variety of basic carpentry and exterior aesthetic tasks as necessary

  Inspect equipment; perform or coordinate maintenance as needed

  Coordinate supplementing additional maintenance of competition surfaces as requested, such as grass, synthetic, wood, acrylic, and rubber

  Assist with planning and submitting for routine and preventative maintenance, as well as facility upgrades

  Propose facility improvement tasks and projects

  Maintain facilities according to Vanderbilt University, NCAA, and conference guidelines

  Assist with set up and breakdown of events as requested

  Maintain working relationship and coordinate logistics with Vanderbilt University Maintenance and Operations (VUMO), campus groups, vendors and contractors, and other Vanderbilt Athletics departments

  Evening and weekend hours may be required to support events and daily operations

  Perform other duties as requested by Facilities and Event Management staff members

  Qualifications

   A high school diploma and 5+ years of related employment is required.

   A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

   Prior experience in facility maintenance is necessary. Previous experience in athletic facility maintenance is preferred.

   Excellent skill with applicable tools for general maintenance tasks is necessary.

   Valid Driver’s License is necessary.

   Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills are necessary.

   Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities is necessary.

   Computer skills, to include word processing and database management are preferred.

   Ability to assess and develop procurement specifications and coordinate purchasing activities in area of specialty is preferred.

   Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines is preferred.

   Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures is preferred.

   Current forklift and miscellaneous lift (scissor, aerial, etc.) certifications, or willingness to obtain through employment is necessary.

   Commitment to professionalism and developing positive relationships is necessary.

   Excellent communication and organization skills is necessary.
