About Associate Title IX Investigator

  Position Summary

  The Associate Title IX Investigator has a significant role in supporting the Office of Equal Opportunity team and assisting with the University’s coordinated response to the prevention responsibilities required by Title IX and applicable state statutes. Investigate complaints with senior team members regarding sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence, which typically involves undergraduate and graduate students at the University. Support thorough and impartial investigations in response to complaints filed with the Office of Equal Opportunity or other partner University organizations. Work to prevent and raise awareness around sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual coercion and the like by educating students, faculty, and staff. Develop and prepare comprehensive reports based on facts revealed in investigations and analyses conducted with respect to applicable laws and NYU policies that may inform actions and/or proceedings by the University. Participate in training sessions to educate the University community on policy, laws and regulations, and reporting obligations. Play an important role in ensuring NYU upholds its commitment to its community members to prohibit sexual or gender-based bullying, discrimination, harassment, and violence.

  Qualifications

  Required Education:

  Bachelor's Degree and Title IX Investigator training certification (as administered by the Association of Title IX Administrators or other similar organization) or ability to obtain such certification within 60 days of employment.

  Preferred Education:

  Master's Degree in Social Work, Higher Education Administration, or related discipline, or Juris Doctor

  Required Experience:

  2+ years relevant experience including dealing with cases of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and/or gender-related violence in a higher education setting or other related field.

  Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong conflict resolution, problem solving, organization, interviewing, and investigation skills. Strong analytical skills and the ability to promptly assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues. Excellent critical thinking skills, including the demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges while maintaining strict confidentiality and sensitivity. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. The ability to maintain neutrality and professionalism while working under stress. The ability to work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues and across multiple constituencies to resolve complaints in a neutral, sensitive manner. Demonstrated knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations (including Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA, and FERPA) and due process protections as they apply to Student Conduct policies.

  Additional Information

  In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $81,000.00 to USD $99,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
