Position Summary
The Associate Project Manager’s (APM) primary role is to take ownership of the order in either backlog, or logistics management of orders with significant architectural changes or large product upgrades in support of USA and Canadian Healthcare sales. Responsibilities include working in partnership with Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers, District Service Managers, Shared Services Directors, Zone Service Directors and Vice Presidents, to ensure timely execution of project orders. Ensure assigned projects are done accurately, on-time and in adherence to Terms and Conditions of the Contract. Create and follow consistent, repeatable project management procedures and processes. Drive effective project results to gain high Customer satisfaction and profitability.
This role can be located in Vernon Hills, IL or Mentor, OH
Duties
Accountable for overall Customer experience for project orders from quotation through delivery and installation, including post-order evaluation with development and implementation of process improvements
Responsible for financial decisions in line with Region Manager authority for expedite and consolidation costs, warehousing and storage charges, and approving free goods orders in support of the project
Manages complex capital project orders with significant architectural changes or large product upgrades; responsible for leading multiple projects simultaneously
Serves as internal project lead, making business decisions to ensure proper execution of projects; assigns business tasks to responsible supporting functions
Collaborates with Sales on large project quotes and bids to secure new business
May help prepare quotations, including supporting data analysis; ensures timely, accurate submittal of quotes and bids
Takes ownership of project orders by completing and delegating tasks and responsibilities to ensure project deadlines are met
Works in collaboration with the Field to ensure timelines are met throughout project
Manages tasks among Planning, Sales, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Service, and follows up to ensure deadlines are met and each project comes to a successful completion
Validates information on Purchase Orders and resolves outstanding issues
Contacts Customer to obtain supporting and/or missing documentation

Coordinates product shipment from various plant and vendor locations to designated delivery point to meet Customer expectations
Communicates all challenges and opportunities presented by Customer to Sales Management
Provides feedback and project updates to Business Unit Leaders, Sales Leadership and Customer Operations Management on a scheduled basis
Conducts post-project review to provide feedback to team and supporting departments on challenges and opportunities, issue resolution and develops an implementation and execution plan for process improvements
Supports the continuous improvement initiatives within the function, including standard work and the root-cause-countermeasure process in support of key performance indicators (KPIs)
Works within the department’s Lean tracking tools and provides data as needed for monthly documentation of performance against agreed-upon KPIs
Participates in Kaizen events when appropriate and supports the action plans that result from those events
10% travel expected to develop Customer relationships and determine Customer requirements for successful project completion
Required Experience
Bachelor degree in business discipline required, or 8-10 years Sales Support experience
2 to 4 years business experience with direct contact with Customers, Vendors and Sales
2 years with STERIS preferred
2 years Sales Support experience preferred
1 to 2 years project management experience
