The Position
Manage all activities & personnel related to the operation of the utility systems. Main management responsibilities include leading & mentoring of team members & establishing & maintaining positive working relationship with internal & external stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include management of cost, quality, delivery, & schedule within area of responsibility. All with an overall focus on activities that are aligned with the production schedule in delivery of utilities. Responsible for strategic development of the utility operations & maintenance department within the IFP site.

Essential Functions
Lead 24/7 operations department in the day-to-day operations of the utilities
Support Utilities (Back, Clean & HVAC) as assigned
Responsible for technical training & development of operators, & control room engineering technicians
Responsible for performance reviews & developmental planning
Responsible for the 24/7 monitoring & manipulation of clean utility, black utility, processes within the control room, utilizing process & manufacturing control systems including SAP
Responsible for Clean & Black utility systems monitoring routes, routine inspection & operational preventative maintenance
Responsible for the production support permit office managing work permits & LOTO processes for production support owned equipment & areas
Responsible for processes associated with coordination, planning & execution of hazardous raw material truck & tote unloads utilizing manufacturing control systems (MES, Siemens, SAP)
Responsible for processes associated with coordination, planning, & execution of hazardous waste trucks utilizing PCS
Owner of area good housekeeping (GHK)
Drive continuous process improvement using cLEAN® tools including SPS, process confirmation, & leading key performance indicators
Drive creation & maintenance of standards for areas of responsibility
Manage continuous operation tasks, including sampling & pH probe calibration of Waste Systems
Manage batch documentation & logbooks
Manage budget adherence
Manage all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
Manage environmental compliance & agency coordination
Coordinate with supply chain & external waste vendor. Manage vendor & production interface
Coordinate with maintenance & technical support resources to ensure production demands are met 24/7. Production interface for all production support escalations
Support site shutdowns across all IFP-US facilities

Physical Requirements
Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Ability to do close precision work with their hands. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting and standing) 50% of the time. May required corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials.
Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
BA/BS degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university required
May consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum five (5) years of engineering or management experience in a manufacturing organization required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
A minimum three (3) years of engineering or management experience in a manufacturing organization required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
A minimum of three (3) years’ of direct supervisory experience in the design, implementation, operations & maintenance of utilities systems (industrial & GMP), as well as working in a regulated environment (FDA, cGMP, OSHA) required
Knowledgeable of black utilities systems that includes chilled water, plant steam, compressed air, electrical distribution & potable water, fire, waste systems & wastewater is preferred
Knowledgeable in clean utilities system that includes process water, clean steam, process air, vacuum, cryogenic storage is preferred
Knowledgeable in raw material & hazardous waste handling processes in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred
Competent in manufacturing & process control systems (Siemens/MES/SAP/PI) is required
Thorough understanding of technical documents is required
Thorough understanding of complicated product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts is required
Computer literacy with associated systems is required
Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams is required
