JOB REQUIREMENTS: Associate Manager, Packaging Engineer - Design toValue - 25671 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: ABOUT THE ROLE The AssociateManager, Packaging Engineer - Design to Value (DTV) will lead costsavings idea creation through multiple tools and process participationand leadership, input to a robust pipeline of savings, and lead projectsto deliver cost savings goals across multiple years for futuresufficiency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with cross functionalstakeholders to develop the pipeline, identify new sources of value, andcost savings opportunities across portfolios, categories, and regions *Support procurement sourcing and negotiation strategies throughassessment of secondary qualification and optimization opportunities, byleading cross-functional teams through DTV ideation processes. *Develop facilitation and leadership skills from leading or supportingDTV ideation tools (ideation, workshop, teardown, etc.) across multipleplatforms and BUs to successfully create idea funnels and future yearrobust pipelines * Support best practice sharing and idea brainstormingwithin each BU to drive broader scale of savings initiatives and speedto market * Deliver a robust pipeline of ideas for cost savings withineach BU, with an emphasis on the Lifestyle Brands business. LeadTechnical Development and Qualification of packaging formulation changes* Lead the technical development of modified formulations oncross-functional teams in support of value-add improvements. * Conductlab scale experiments to demonstrate parity of alternative materials andsupport the scale-up, trial plans, and manufacturing qualification fornewly qualified ingredients Apply chemical sciences and chemistryprinciples to deliver robust cost savings pipelines: * Understand thefunctional properties, proper use, and the environmental impact ofingredients. * Provide innovative ideas, expertise, and knowledge witha high degree of integrity, speed, and a results-oriented approach. *Scientific curiosity and ability to utilize available external resources(patent literature, suppliers, etc.) to identify applicable newtechnologies and bring those technologies in-house. * Write and reviewprocedures, test protocols, and specifications needed to support productdevelopment activities for new formulas and packages. Manages multiple,simultaneous projects, with simple to moderate supply chain andtechnical complexity, with a primary focus on packaging changes *Execute qualification and validation of optimized packaging componentsand alternate decoration methods (bottles, triggers, labels, shrinksleeves, screen-printing, etc) to deliver cost savings by conductingexperiments to demonstrate parity of alternative materials and supportthe scale-up, trial plans, and manufacturing qualification for qualifiedcomponents * As Project Manager, lead global cross functional projectteams, or serve as GSC Lead on project teams to ensure project timelineand key deliverables are completed for commercialization and launch ofcost savings projects * Maintain accurate, up-to-date cost savingsestimates for assigned projects in PWA and C\$AVE * Track projectprogress against milestones, issue status reports, and escalaterisks/breakdowns as necessary to appropriate cross-functional sponsors* Provide innovative product and packaging ideas, expertise, andknowledge with a high degree of integrity, speed, and a results-orientedapproach * Scientific curiosity and ability to utilize availableexternal resources (patent literature, suppliers, etc.) to identifyapplicable new technologies and bring those technologies in-house *Write and review procedures, test protocols, and specifications neededto support product development activities for new formulas and packagesBENEFITS AND PERKS SC Johnson\'s total compensation packages are at orabove industry levels.
