Job SummaryUnder general supervision the Associate Educator delivers instruction for theAmerican Heart Association (AHA) certification courses on Basic LifeSupport (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) andPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to healthcare providers and membersof the public. Responsibilities* Delivers instruction of AHA programs to the community and healthcareprofessionals. * Recognizes age specific considerations to address the needsof the population served. * Cleans equipment after each use. Conducts thecontracted American Heart Association course(s) according to theguidelines of the American Heart Association. * Administers and grades writtenexaminations. * Completes all paperwork after the course as required.Completes all assigned training center duties such as processing of rosters,printing of cards and spot skills checks. Verifies adequacy of equipment(quantity and functionality). * Communicates any concerns or unusualincidents that may have occurred during the class or client contact. * Uses avariety of audio/visual aids in the classroom setting: including, but nolimited to; slide and film projectors, LCD projectors, VCRs, andoverhead projectors. * Evaluates and adjusts teaching/training methods toaccommodate student's needs. * Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of AHA guidelines. * Knowledge of a variety of audio/visual aidsfor the classroom setting. * Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and variousaspects of injury prevention. * Ability to interact in a professional mannerwith other personnel and ancillary services. * Ability to speak clearly andpersuasively in positive and negative situations. * Ability to listen andrecall information. * Ability to communicate clearly verbally, in writing,and using electronic media. * Ability to design and implement student progressevaluations, including written tests and practical exams. * Previousexperience in nursing, prehospital or other medical fields. * Ability tobuild rapport with students. * Strong problem solving and critical thinkingskills. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Computers and Technology* Familiarity with medical software and equipment.
Education&Experience* Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate. Required *Qualified Licensed Provider with minimum 2-year Advanced Cardiovascular LifeSupport (ACLS) provider certification. Required * Licensed Paramedic inthe state of Colorado required; RN or MD considered in lieu of Paramediclicensure.
