  Job Overview

  Reporting to the Director of Distribution, the Distribution Engineer will be responsible for improving logistics operations and processes for the Distribution Center using a variety of lean analytical methods, systems and tools. This position is responsible for data management, identifying problems and developing recommendations that support Distribution Center operations. As a project leader on key logistic initiatives, the Distribution Engineer will interact with customers, DC management and others throughout the organization.

  A Day In The Life

  K eep Safety as the top priority and ensure the safety of all employees, customers, and carriers.

  Support distribution center in the design, development, and implementation of methods and tools to drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, employee safety, quality, service, etc.

  Evaluate the effectiveness of current or future distribution processes; evaluate the use of inventory tracking technology and warehousing software to maximize distribution center efficiency

  Utilize project management and engineering tools to execute projects that satisfy internal and external customer requirements

  Develop models to understand resources needed (forklifts, RF Tech, etc.) based on current and future customer demand.

  Utilize reporting and data management tools to provide operational analysis and support

  Conduct logistics analyses, such as time studies, zero-base, rate, network, flow-path, supply chain, Pareto, 80/20, etc.

  Participate / lead in continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to kaizen events, VSM’s, process mapping, etc.

  Lead projects to drive improvements in inventory and cycle time.

  Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.

  Required Qualifications

  Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Logistics, and/or Technology or equivalent certification. (BSIE) Industrial Engineering is highly preferred. CPIM, CSCMP or Six Sigma Certification preferred.

  2-4 years’ experience working in engineering, project management, or continuous improvement environment

  Experience in the development of labor standards through time studies or pre-determined time standards

  Strong PC skills required; especially with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).

  CPIM, CSCMP, or Lean Six Sigma Certifications preferred.

  SAP, SAP WM (EWM) or similar ERP or MRP-II system experience preferred.

  AutoCAD, MS Project and Visio or similar is highly desired.
