Job Summary:
At Caterpillar’s East Peoria, IL facility, we manufacture world class medium and large dozers with a strong focus on quality and safety. In this role as a Supply Chain Planning Engineer, you will report to the Supply Chain Planning Manager and will be primarily responsible for overseeing facility performance levels to corporate targets for inventory reduction, increased inventory turns, and improved order-to-delivery results. As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Custom rack project management supporting NPI programs, custom rack sourcing, procurement, implementation, tracking and maintenance.
EPSA packaging system PWO creation along with updates and supplier communication.
Packaging point of contact for Material Requirements, Warehouse Management, Quality, Engineering and corporate Returnable Container Management.
Assist with packaging and repack requests.
Be part of the proactive design and implementation of the Point of Use packaging strategy to improve Safety, Quality and Velocity while managing Cost.
Working effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams in order to apply the supply chain planning process and leading team efforts to develop lean material flow plans for the facility, which may include implementing changes to factory floor layout and material presentation at the point of use.
Gathering and analyzing data on facility demand and demand variability for each part required for production based on daily demand buckets; gathering and analyzing data about supplier shipping performance and variability % for each part number (both Time and Qty); developing material flow plans and documenting packaging work instructions for all material coming into a facility for production.
Creating and maintaining a site level flow map for parts used in production.
This position enables and coaches facility employees to utilize Plan for Every Part templates, and provides reports and information to facility resources requiring PFEP information.
Performing physical, tactical work across multiple functions to implement the supply chain planning process and developing a Plan for Every Part for every value stream in a facility.
Performing physical, tactical work across multiple functions, making improvements required to attain MQ or other like Certification for a Value Stream; and performing physical, tactical work to reduce / eliminate supply chain constraints inside a value stream, working with a cross-functional team of personnel.

• Works to overcome BPI resistance from managers, the labor force and other groups.
Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

• Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
• Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
• Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.

Project Management : Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project cost and time.
• Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.
• Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
• Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.
• Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.
• Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
Logistics Management : Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Manages logistics processes through process improvement, prioritization, and project planning.
• Implements and maintains monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
• Develops and analyzes logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory.
• Works with historical, legislative and practical issues associated with domestic freight.
• Participates in contract negotiations and interfaces with selected carriers necessary to maintain expected levels of service.
• Consults on all major logistics processes, their interactions and operational requirements.
Education and Experience requirement:
Bachelor’s degree; in lieu of degree - 6 years of Supply Chain experience
3 + years of Supply Chain Experience
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience in SAP Mach 1
Experience as a Packaging Engineer
Experience as a Supply Chain Planning Analyst or Engineer
Experience in Project Management
Experience with the Value Stream Transformation process
Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts and tools
Experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to creatively solve complex problems
A background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, Demand Management and/or Logistics
Leadership skills to effectively lead supply chain improvements, making the best use of available resources while maintaining a strong focus on safety and people
Strong collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to drive common supply chain processes across multiple departments within a business division
Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures and solid product knowledge
APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification
