Primary Position Function/Summary:
Provide administrative oversight to the policies and prioritiesestablished by the Director of International Student and ScholarServices (ISSS), with a primary focus on the intercultural training andprogramming component of the ISSS operation .
Statement of Duties & Responsibilities :
Oversee and provide leadership for the development andimplementation of social and educational programming for theuniversity\'s international population, with an emphasis on exchangestudents, visiting scholars, and prospective and returning studyabroad students.Oversee and provide leadership for the development andimplementation of intercultural training on campus and in thecommunity with an emphasis on increasing the interculturalcommunication competency of domestic faculty and staff.Oversee and provide leadership for various new international studentorientations, both overseas, in person, and through remote learningplatforms.Manage the daily work of the international training and programscomponents of ISSS, including the training, delegation, supervision,and evaluation of work assignments of staff and interns.Assist the ISSS Director with overall unit leadership, includingdepartmental budget and financial operations, strategic planning,and communication.Represent the office in the absence of the Director. Represent thegoals and direction of the office on campus committees and events.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree.Three (3) years of intercultural work experience in ISSS or anequivalent office at another educational institution.Demonstrated supervisor experience, including hiring, delegating,training, and performance management.Preferred: (Successful candidates will have):
Master\'s degree.One year of cultural experience while studying, living, or wo kinginternationally.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
High level of knowledge of UIUC organization, policies, andprocedures desirable.Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.Reliable accuracy and attentional to detail in handling contracts.Ability to work effectively with individuals from variedadministrative, academic, cultural, religious, national, ethnic andlinguistic backgrounds.Ability to assume responsibility and to work with minimum guidance.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Position involves occasionally working events that fall on weekendsor evenings. Events can be out of state and in many differentenvironments.Travel Requirements:
