We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic salesperson to join our Hong Kong-based institutional sales (IB) team. The IB client segment and the Hong Kong & Greater China region both play a significant role in Capital Group's plan to grow our business. This role will report into the Hong Kong & Greater China IB team head responsible for leading and developing Capital's institutional business in the region. The head of the Hong Kong & Greater China Client Group will also play an important role in ensuring that the organization provides what you need to be successful at Capital Group and have a fulfilling, rewarding career over the long-term.
This role will support the IB business with a focus on building client relationships with key institutional clients across central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, government related, insurance, endowments, other institutional related client segments as well as consultants. We will work with you to set your dedicated coverage while supporting the larger key clients in the region. This role provides the opportunity to engage clients at different stages of the sales process, from prospecting to onboarding. Collaboration is a key part of Capital Group's success and its culture. There will be close working relationships with the Singapore-based and key European IB sales teams, as well as global consultant relations teams.
The role is based in our Hong Kong office, which was established in 1983, and includes many supporting functions, including Marketing, Investment Specialists, Investment Professionals, etc).
Primary responsibilities:
The role will work closely and collaboratively with the IB lead to build out the Hong Kong & Greater China institutional business focusing on the key areas outlined below:
Sales Process:
Working closely with the IB lead to build out strategic plans, identifying opportunities. This involves fully understanding landscape of the market and brainstorming ideas to formulate business plans as well as detailed client plans.Building Client Relationships - Involved in prospecting meetings with clients. Focused on client needs, generating, preparing for and participating in prospecting meetings with RMs, recording call notes into the system and handling follow-ups.Maintaining information on prospects and updating critical management information about prospects and clients into the required systems. Creating and maintaining individual client plans for important prospects.Handling prospect requests for information including sourcing information and data, liaising with other internal departments if needed by articulating the prospects' need, drafting proper response etc.Opportunity to take the lead on certain assigned prospects to develop the relationship and close opportunities.Representing Capital at industry conferences / seminars, ensuring we maximise prospecting opportunities by preparing thoroughly prior to the event, proactively networking during the event and diligently following up afterwards.
Internal Capital Group Navigation and Collaboration
Work with RFP team to oversee RFIs/RFPs process, ensuring quality and timely submissions.Work with Marketing team on events, newsletters, emails and all other marketing related initiatives.Coordinating due diligence meetings with various internal departments.Work with internal teams to respond to queries from prospects and clients.Liaison with Investment Professionals, internal departments (Marketing, Results Analysis, Investment Product Management, Fee Consulting, RFP team, Legal & Compliance, etc.), other RMs and BDAs as part of the sales cycle.Work with administrative assistants to maintain client database and distribution lists.Strong partnership with the financial intermediary teams to effective enterprise coverage.In addition, to work as part of a collegial team of business development associates that shares ideas and best practices across Asia and Europe.

Qualifications
At least 7-8 years of experience working with institutional investors in a similar capacity.Technical skills and knowledge on financial products and investment are critical for this role.Clear, structured, and persuasive written and verbal communications skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) for external and internal purposes.
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
