About This Role:
Kansas State University Olathe invites applications and nominations forthe position of Associate Dean for Faculty, Research, andAdministration. Reporting to the Dean and CEO of the Olathe Campus,the Associate Dean is a critical member of the K-State Olathe leadershipteam which is dedicated to building new paradigms of interdisciplinaryand integrated research and education, leading new program developmenton the undergraduate and graduate levels, and facilitating research andengagement through academic, industry, government, and communitypartnerships. The campus has a mandate in applied research and educationand currently offers a variety of programs on the undergraduate,master\'s, and doctoral levels in Animal Health, Food Safety andSecurity, Horticulture, Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, Public Health,Advanced Manufacturing, Hospitality, and Personal Financial Planning.
Educational offerings at the campus will continue to evolve and grow tomeet the needs of the workforce, industry, and students through avariety of credit and non-credit programs that address technical andtransferable skills. Faculty and instructors at K-State Olathe representa combination of resident and non-resident, full-time and part-timeexperts from industry, education, and government sectors. Ten researchlaboratories on the campus support academic, research, and industryactivities.
The position responsibilities of the Associate Dean for Faculty,Research, and Administration are as follows:
Administrative Activities (30%)
Provide leadership and oversight in research, development,implementation, and assessment of interdisciplinary and integratedgraduate and undergraduate programs with particular emphasis oncommunity college transfer students and working professionals, aswell as targeted programs to meet the workforce needs of area andregional industry.Design and develop strategies and programs that are responsive tothe demographics of the potential student population with local,national, and international dimensions through face-to-face, online,and hybrid programs offered as workshops leading to certificates,micro credentials, and undergraduate, and graduate degrees.Actively engage and liaison with Olathe, Manhattan, and Salinacampus administrators, faculty and staff to build open and ongoingdialog about the support needs of their programs and opportunitiesto innovate to better serve students and the workforce needs of theKansas City area.Develop and implement programming that is relevant to workforcedevelopment through innovative approaches to the changing demands ofhigher education and growing industry/government/academicpartnerships that bridge education with research and translationalopportunities.Assist academic programs in developing multi-channel strategies forcourse delivery including alternate scheduling options,micro-credentialing, non-academic credit offerings, and otherinnovations.Coordinate and assess instructional needs and staffing (e.g., jointhires across university departments, industry experts, and part-timefaculty); evaluate performance and benchmark curricular content inalignment with K-State academic policies and standards.Oversee budget development and management for all appropriate Schoolof Applied Interdisciplinary Studies programs and areas.Provide oversight of the implementation of the campus strategic planrelated to academic and research activities; lead strategic planningeffort of data metrics.Manage Johnson County Education Research Triangle (JCERT) academicprogram data reporting.Serve on external and community-related committees, task forces,groups, and boards related to the educational and academic interestof the campus as assigned by the Dean/CEO.Represent the Olathe Campus Dean/CEO in the Dean\'s absence.Other duties as assigned by the Campus Dean and CEO.Faculty Affairs (25%)
Provide leadership and oversight of faculty matters for both campus andSchool of Applied and Interdisciplinary Studies faculty.
Build and supervise a community of support services related to facultyteaching, learning, research, diversity, equity, inclusion andbelonging; ensure that faculty are knowledgeable of resources availableto them to be successful (adjunct education, orientation, etc.)
Act as a liaison for K-State Olathe\'s academic and research programsand faculty. Serve on campus and university committees related toacademic, research, and student issues. Represent the ca
