Position Overview

　　The Buyer’s p rimary responsibilities will be to identify and negotiate with vendors, and then coordinate purchases.  Eventual career path for this individual would be Sr. Specialist, Associate Manager, Procurement Manager.

　　Essential Duties and Responsibilities

　　Responsible for procuring raw materials and components in a timely manner to ensure delivery prior to scheduled production date, with emphasis on meeting target price, quality, quantity, availability, and delivery dates.  Responsible for maintaining communication with suppliers, obtaining benchmarking prices, managing development of new suppliers and materials. 

　　Responsible for managing supply levels based on immediate demand, forecast quantities and material lead times. 

　　Daily responsibilities will include entering and issuance of purchase orders to vendors, daily communication with suppliers to manage on-time delivery of open orders, and working directly with multiple departments (R&D, Technical Operations, Quality, and Accounting). 

　　Analyze departmental purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information. 

　　Establish blanket purchase agreements with suppliers on items with special requirements and limitations. 

　　Maintain and update records on pricing and ordering of materials. 

　　Prepares reports, analyze data, and make recommendations to increase operational efficiencies. 

　　Assist in Supplier evaluation. 

　　Other duties or projects assigned by management.  

　　Qualifications

　　Bachelor's (BA) degree or combination of education and experience. 

　　1-3 years of work experience in material/component procurement; experience in a pharma / biotech manufacturing environment is a plus.

　　Intermediate to advance level in MS Office, experience with ERP systems is a must. 

　　Ability to learn reporting tools. 

　　Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with members of management team and staff 

　　Must have good writing skills. 

　　Must have good time management skills and organizational skills. 

　　Ability to work independently or within a team. 

　　Able to prioritize the workload to ensure delivery against tight deadlines.
