Position Summary
The Department of Recreation, Exercise and Sport Science invites applicantsfor a tenure-track, full-time faculty position at the rank of AssistantProfessor in Nutrition Science. The successful candidate will serve as thefounding faculty of this new program, leading efforts in recruitment,retention, and program building. We seek applicants who are committed toundergraduate education, who can teach introductory as well as advancednutrition courses to a diverse community of students and provide meaningfulmentoring to students through career readiness, undergraduate research, fieldplacements, and internships.
Candidates with a passion for teaching excellence in community nutrition, andnutrition assessment is desired. In addition, candidates with experience inand a desire to build a new program are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will serve as the Program Coordinator for the newNutrition Science program with emphasis placed on program growth by supportingand promoting curricular innovation and instructional excellence in the field,student retention and opportunities in undergraduate research related tonutrition. The successful candidate will build connections with the Departmentand across campus to develop industry partnerships to initiate professionalpathways for students to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned inclasses for a career in nutrition, public health, and/or further study ingraduate programs. The successful candidate will advise students who areinterested in the pre-dietetics emphasis on the necessary prerequisite workneeded to enter an ACEND-accredited graduate program if desired. This newfaculty member will teach four classes per semester, and be expected tomaintain an active program of professional activity and university service.

Salary/Benefits
$59,000-$64,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience for AssistantProfessor. After one yearof employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full-timein undergraduate programs for up to four years.

Registered Dietitian NutritionistPhD in human nutrition, food/nutrition science, dietetics or closely relatedfield; ABD considered with degree completion necessary for tenureInterest in and potential for mentoring undergraduate research projectsDemonstrated commitment to DEIJ+Ability to cultivate and grow community partners for student internships andfield experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of successful undergraduate teaching in Nutrition Science and/orDieteticsExperience with Food Systems Management and/or ServSafe relevantcertificationsExperience teaching online and/or hybrid coursesExperience working with diverse populations in rural communitiesDesire to build professional relationships within the Department and otheracademic units on campus
