OverviewThe Department of Social Work at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure track or clinical). The position is located at the Uintah Basin campus in Vernal, Utah. Utah State University's Social Work Department envisions a world where social work graduates are leaders in social change - serving individuals, families, groups, and communities in the pursuit of social justice and the enhancement of the quality of life for all persons. Our programs aim to prepare generalist and advanced generalist social workers to advocate for vulnerable populations and work toward the establishment of societies free from poverty, violence, oppression, and discrimination. Position: This is a nine-month appointment with USU's social work programs (MSW and BSW degrees) beginning August of 2024.
Tenure-track positions have a role assignment of 65% Teaching, supervising, and advising; 25% Research; and 10% Service. Tenure-track positions are renewed annually during the probationary period assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment.
Clinical-track positions have a role assignment of 90% Teaching, supervising, and advising; and 10% Service. Clinical-track positions are renewed annually, assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment.
ResponsibilitiesTeach courses in BSW and MSW programs with expertise in research methods, program evaluation, and community practice; 2) advise undergraduate and graduate students; 3) supervise practicum placements regionally; 4) engage in scholarship and professional productivity; and 5) provide service to the department, the statewide campus, and the social work profession.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Tenure Track: 1) an MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program; 2) two years post-MSW practice experience; and 3) an earned doctorate (PhD or DSW) in social work or closely related field at the time of appointment (ABD will be considered).
Clinical Track: 1) an MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program; and 2) two years post-MSW practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Tenure Track:1) experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels; 2) teaching experience with online and distance education technology; 3) a record of scholarly activity; and 4) experience teaching research methods and supervising practicum students.
