| Posting Summary | The Department of History at Rutgers University-Camden invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2024.A Ph.D. in history, American Studies, or a closely related field at the time of appointment is required. We seek a hire who will complement the department's existing strengths: adding to our graduate Public History offerings; offering undergraduate Public History courses; contributing to our offerings in 20th-century US history post-1945. The position carries a 2-2 teaching load. We seek candidates with a strong publishing record, an active research agenda with the potential to secure external funding, a commitment to effective teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The department seeks faculty with experience or interest in developing courses with civic engagement and experiential learning components.Interested applicants should send a CV, a cover letter describing their research agenda and teaching philosophy, name and contact information for three references, a chapter or article-length writing sample, and a diversity statement. The diversity statement should specifically address how the applicant has demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusiveness in scholarship and teaching and how their background and experiences have prepared them to positively impact Rutgers-Camden's ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse student community.
