  Job Summary::: {#win0divHRSSCHWRKDESCR100grp$1}::: {#win0divHRSSCHPSTDSCDESCRLONG$1}The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position beginning August 1, 2024, to teach in the Criminal Justice program. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate's area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

  The Department is housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences which has more than 100 faculty and half a dozen staff members committed to academic success across six academic departments and three interdisciplinary programs. The department is the second largest in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The department houses the Center for Applied Social Sciences. The criminal justice program is the largest in the department, and the second largest in the College. The program services over 400 students. Program faculty possess doctorate and master's degrees in criminal justice, several have prior practitioner experience, and one faculty has earned a Juris Doctorate. Faculty teach undergraduate courses in the classroom, online, and the Master's in Criminal Justice Administration is offered online.

  Responsibilities::: {#win0divHRSSCHWRKDESCR100grp$2}::: {#win0divHRSSCHPSTDSCDESCRLONG$2}The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a four-course load during the academic year (Fall and Spring semester),

  maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

  Courses will be

  a broad array of criminal justice courses to undergraduate majors in the classroom, online undergraduate students, and online graduate students in the Masters of Criminal Justice Administration program. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can flexibly contribute to the programs undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

  Typical Allocation of Duties

  Teaching and scholarship - 80%Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline.

  Service - 20%Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.::::::::::::

  Position Requires completion of VSU's Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker's Compensation.::::::::::::
