JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Assistant Operations Manager is a key member ofthe Operations team, assisting in overseeing wastewater treatmentprocesses and operations staff. In general, this person works closelywith the Operations Manager to maintain treatment plant performance,budget preparation and tracking, developing and implementing processcontrol strategies, executing start-up activities, remaining abreasttechnical/industry developments, providing tracking and coordination ofoperations activities with maintenance and engineering personnel, and bea key member of the operations team supporting the district\'s capitalimprovement plan (CIP). This position will work under the direction andguidance of the Operations Manager and works closely with O&Msupervisors and managers, staff engineers, and other districtdepartments. This position will provide primary oversight of processdata and reports (to include review of data quality, updating andcreating IPNs, and creating and updating reports). This position willalso be expected to take the lead (under guidance from the OperationsManager) in working through unusual treatment plant problems, specialproject evolutions and shutdowns/start-ups, and tackling urgent needsfor assistance in plant. The Assistant Operations Manager is anadvanced-level professional position with the expectation thatincumbents will hold advanced wastewater treatment certifications, andProfessional Engineering (PE) License. Duties For a complete listof duties and responsibilities, see the job description on our career\'spage. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required: AMaster\'s degree in civil/environmental engineering in a wastew terrelated discipline plus six (6) years of combined experience related towater and/or wastewater treatment plant operations, design, and/orconstruction; or A Bachelor degree in civil/environmental engineering ina wastewater related discipline plus ten (10) years of combinedexperience related to water and/or wastewater treatment plantoperations, design, and/or construction. Basic wastewater operatorcertification in the State of Wisconsin, or ability to obtaincertification within one year of hire, to be maintained. RegisteredProfessional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin, or ability to obtainthe license within one year of hire, to be maintained. Preferred:Wastewater operator certification in the State of Wisconsin at anadvanced level for all processes used at the Nine Springs WastewaterTreatment Plan or ability to obtain certification with one year of hire,to be maintained. Envision Sustainability Professional credential fromthe Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure within one year of hire, tobe maintained. Experience with state and federal public water orwastewater regulatory requirements.
