  Expected salary range of $180,000 to $200,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

  PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

  A seasoned commercial lawyer who is a highly qualified attorney handling complex legal matters and projects on behalf of the Constellation business unit. Among other responsibilities, this lawyer will be expected to handle a significant volume of complex gas and power transactions for Constellation.

  PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal transactional projects requiring an ability to evaluate matters that are material to Constellation’s business; evaluates legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly

  • Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel

  • Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff

  • Projects / duties as assigned.

  • Supports more senior attorneys in the ongoing management of relationships and matters with Constellation business units and outside counsel

  • Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context

  • Demonstrates innovation; generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs or actions

  Qualifications - External

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions

  • At least 5-8 years of professional experience in energy transactional work

  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments

  • Ability to handle high volume of complex assignments

  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3-5 years handling commodity transactional work, preferably with gas experience

  • Experience working with business to properly structure complex commodity transactions, gas or power.

  • Experience with physical and financial major trading documentation, such as ISDA, NAESB and the EEI.

  • Experience with other basic transactional documentation such as non-disclosure agreements, secured transaction documentation and credit support instruments.

  • MBA
