Position Summary:
Working in the Admissions Office and reporting to the Director of Admissions Communications, the Assistant Director of Communications & Creative Content supports CMU's enrollment goals and integrated communication/marketing plans by creating content and campaigns that influence prospective students and their supporters through social media, emails, web pages and other channels. This position is responsible for planning, creating, and maintaining content that increases traffic and engagement across undergraduate, graduate and international student populations, and contributes to the higher education recruiting environment by applying creative, technical, and organizational skills in managing the department's social media channels and web pages. In addition to working directly with members of the Admissions Office, this position collaborates regularly with University Communications and other internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field.
Three years of relevant marketing or communications experience writing for web, social, print, and email platforms.
Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to working collaboratively with creative and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage a growing social media account.
Skilled in visual communications including photography, videography and graphic design.
Impeccable writing skills and attention to detail, including knowledge of AP style and writing within brand guidelines.
Proven success executing multichannel communication campaigns.
Understanding of the target market's behaviors and needs.
Knowledge of search engine optimization, web/social media analytics and accessibility best practices.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or similar multimedia editing software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field.
Experience measuring campaign effectiveness.
Experience in higher education, preferably in an admissions or marketing role.
Experience with content marketing tools.
Experience with a website content management system, preferably Sitefinity, and web publishing practices using CSS and HTML.
Knowledge of best practices in email marketing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists in the leadership of the department's content development, from concept to delivery, for digital platforms in a way that engages the audiences, promotes the University brand and voice, and adheres to best practices.
Develops an effective content marketing strategy, owning content across social media, web and email platforms.
Maintains department's editorial calendar.
Manages department's social media channels and web pages.
Researches current and emerging digital trends and best practices relevant to the target audiences.
Monitors and report on campaign metrics, making recommendations for improving engagement and user experience.
Supports department's initiatives by capturing, editing and sharing photo and video content.
