Job Description:
Management and Implementation of College Admissions Procedures
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the admissions process for students applying to the College of Veterinary Medicine for the degree of Doctor in Veterinary Medicine and the combined DVM/MPH degrees
Supervisory responsibility of the duties described for the Admissions Officer I.
Manages the WebAdmit Software provided by the AAVMC specifically for applicants to the University of Florida.
Acts as the primary liaison to AAVMC.
Serves as backup for the training of the admission committee members on the use of the WebAdmit Software.
Corresponds with prospective students and general public concerning admission policies and procedures.
Advises pre-veterinary students regarding prerequisite requirements for admission consideration.
Reviews academic transcripts for required coursework; analyzes non-approved prerequisite course content with the Associate and Assistant Deans to determine whether course may meet prerequisite requirement.
Assists the Assistant Dean in formulating and implementing admissions procedures
Oversees interview and final admission notification process to applicants.
Supervises maintenance of veterinary student files containing confidential information
Oversees and coordinates the scheduling of college applicants for interviews with Admissions Committee members.
Point of contact for students transferring from other veterinary schools
Responsible for ensuring the content of admissions related information on the college website is up to date
Advises Assistant Dean in implementing new admissions tools to improve and streamline the admissions process.
Prepares year end reports and statistical summaries documenting the admissions process.
Certification of DVM degree
Serves as backup for college certification to university registrar to prepare and release University of Florida DVM degree diplomas.
Oversees the acceptance process of incoming DVM, transfer, and returning students via “My Admissions” program
Commencement
Assists Associate Dean and Administrative Specialist ll in planning the graduation commencement program each year.Freshman Orientation
Responsible for the first day of orientation for the incoming class of veterinary students
Assists the Admission Officer 1 in the planning and implementation of Family and Club Day
Additional Duties
Oversees information housed in the Student Database.
Update name changes on Curriculum map.
Manages new and current distribution lists for all DVM students.
Point of contact for students interested in the DVM/MPH program
Expected Salary:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of college and campus regulations regarding policies and procedures affecting admission, registration and student records, transcript analysis, summary and verification.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with students, faculty, staff and a variety of personalities; needs strong combination of public relations skills and problem-solving skills.
Ability to write reports, compose correspondence, and summarize data for internal and external reporting.
Ability to organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to effectively utilize OPS office help, to delegate tasks appropriately, and to coordinate and plan with other office staffs’ needs and schedules.
