  Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

  Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting or related field. Four (4) years of full-time accounting related experience. An understanding of GAAP accounting and experience in consolidated financial reporting for fixed assets, grants, plant funds, etc. Experience in leading and contributing to annual external audit work. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in a financial ERP (enterprise resource planning) or DBMS (database management system). Preferred Qualifications:

  Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent license. Additional years (5+) of accounting related experience. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel to include use of advanced formulas. Experience with data warehouse reporting. Higher Education and/or SUNY System experience. Project-related experience. Experience with plant funds, fixed assets, and inventory maintenance.Brief Description of Duties:

  Oversight responsibility as it pertains to accounting controls and compliance related to the areas of capital assets & projects, gifts, grants, and construction accounting. This includes ensuring proper GAAP & GASB reporting, in addition to applicable SUNY asset reporting. This position will work closely with other university areas such as Procurement, Asset Control and Campus Planning Design & Construction (CPDC) to ensure accuracy in reporting. In the short-term, this position will also participate in the new Oracle Cloud ERP system implementation for the applicable accounting modules. This includes new technology testing, deployment, and support. Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are needed to be successful in this role, along with the ability to work both as a team and independently. Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills are also needed.

  Financial Reporting & ComplianceAccounting oversight and strategic management for university-wide accounting, compliance and controls for fixed assets, gifts, and grants as appropriate. Support the preparation of the university's consolidated financial statements by preparing all applicable notes as needed; perform review and analysis of balances as needed. Create an internal control structure that provides reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, reliable financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Assist and review as needed the annual fringe benefit rate requests and annual F&A rate proposal. As it pertains to the Oracle Cloud Implementation, participate in the initial system implementation and serve as a team member for Fixed Asset modules. Post-implementation, serves as functional lead from an Oracle systems perspective. Develop and implement key data metrics and performance indicators for executive reporting. Work with Central Offices to analyze and/or correct anomalies. Work with Senior Leadership to oversee and maintain compliance and controls for all fixed asset related tasks. SUNY Reporting:Create a process of reporting fixed assets into the State University Fixed Asset Accounting System (SFAAS). Adequately document and account for all long-term assets in a timely and accurate manner. Generate and perform analysis of RF SUNY and SUNY BI Equipment Reconciliation and p-card reports to determine applicable asset reporting. Review and analyze year end Bonds proceed reports provided through direct communication from the SUNY controller's office for asset reporting. As requested by the SUNY controller's office, providing year end equipment addition and disposition flux justification by review of RAM dispositions and additions. Oversee and analysis of invoices to determine acquisition cost of assets based on RF and SUNY capitalization policy. Generate reports as required using the RAM application. Provide year-end SUNY reporting related to assets, as requested for external audit needs. Determine the asset valuation, asset classification and general policy for capitalization for fixed assets.Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Special Notes:

  This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.SUNY implemented a hybrid telecommuting pilot program. This position has been approved to participate in the pilot, which allows for up to 5 remote days per pay period.This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 15 days.
