Requisition Summary
PACCAR Financial of Canada, the Canadian financial services subsidiary of one of the world’s largest independent heavy-duty truck manufacturers, has an exciting opportunity at its Canadian head office located in Mississauga. This Assistant Controller reports directly to the PACCAR Financial Controller and provides leadership and mentorship to the accounting team.
Job Functions and Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the general ledger including interface with sub-systems of account payable, cash management/treasury, Asset Finance (AF) (lease and loan administration systems), WMS (wholesale system), and GTS (treasury management system).
Build reporting and a trusting relationship with PACCAR Financial and accounting management for reliable (accurate and timely) reporting including responding to accounting queries.
Apply knowledge of accounting and reporting processes, engage with other senior management team in implementing accounting interfaces or new products, systems, and processes.
Develop credible and accurate budgets and forecasts.
Supervising the monthly close for PACCAR Financial of Canada
Supervising daily accounting functions, including the successful recruitment, retention, and development of accounting staff
Preparation of monthly financial statements and related reports, including the preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations
Monthly profit and foreign exchange exposure forecasting
Interacting with other divisions, Corporate Consolidations, Corporate Treasury, and PACCAR’s captive financing companies regarding, inter alia, intercompany balances, consolidation eliminations, 10K/Q reporting, and derivative instrument accounting
Monthly comparisons of forecast v. actual results
Supporting SOX and internal control compliance, documentation, and testing
Assisting the Canadian tax department regarding compliance and tax audits
Ad hoc accounting requests and projects as required
Qualifications and Skills
BA/BS in Accounting required
CPA designation required
Strong automated system and PC knowledge (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of Infinium G/L or SAP consolidation is preferred
Experience with Data Analytics tools include Tableau, Power BI, Power Pivot a plus
Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills in addition to excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must have a strong internal control and SOX background gained in a similar position or at a Big 4 or national accounting firm
Must be flexible and have the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment
Must have the ability to prioritize activities to meet deadlines as required
