This position will be located in: Fargo, ND or Minneapolis, MN Job Summary Plays a key role in delivering the financial information to a large multi-location business in order to make sound financial decisions. Responsible for the timeliness, completeness and accuracy of the periodic financial statements and financial information. Responsible for the Company's annual independent audit, bank compliance audits, 401(k) and ESOP audits. Manages the general ledger financial accounting and other finance and accounting teams and assists the Controller with carrying out the strategic initiatives of the finance group. Responsibilities Essential Functions Responsible for the timeliness, completeness and accuracy of the periodic financial statements and financial information. Establishes and enforces proper accounting methods, policies and principles to adhere with generally accepted accounting principles and ensures execution is done timely, consistently and efficiently Responsible for the professional development of the general ledger financial accounting team and other finance and accounting areas. Carries out strategic initiatives for the general ledger financial accounting team and other finance and accounting areas. Responsible to identify emerging technology to determine ways to automate processes without sacrificing accuracy and accountability. Responsible for ESOP accounting and other financial projects. Takes the lead on the acquisition accounting and post-closing reconciliations in mergers and acquisitions (due diligence, setup etc.) Responsible for the company's annual independent audit, bank compliance audits, 401(k) and ESOP audits. review and approve journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. Prepares and analyzes the company's periodic financial statements - balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement. review and analyze all financial reports that originate from the financial accounting team. Identifies and implements processes and internal controls to help strengthen the control environment. Develops and reports on metrics. Non-essential Functions Assists other finance areas with ad hoc projects as needed. Completes ad hoc reporting. Acts as a back-up for the team and other finance managers. Trains staff member on processes and procedures. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate. Qualifications Four-year accounting, finance or business administration degree or equivalent work experience. 9+ years of progressive accounting or related work experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar designation is required. Public accounting experience preferred. Experience with ESOP accounts preferred. Understands accounting systems, processes and internal controls. Strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Internet, Email and SAP software. Skills and Abilities Strong team builder and ability to work across several functions within the organization. Solid analytical skills and sound decision-making capabilities. Ability to present recommendations in a timely, clear and concise manner. Metrics driven and ability to look beyond the data for assumptions and implications. Ability to take initiative, be a strong team player, respond to work demands in a flexible manner and produce timely, high quality work products in a deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively plan and organize. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and others related to the company. Demonstrated confidence and maturity enough to interact with all levels of personnel within the organization.
