About Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Pathology, Research Pathology

The Department of Pathology (med.stanford.edu/pathology) at Stanford University seeks an outstanding scientist to join the Department as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the University Tenure Line. Stanford Pathology particularly encourages candidates who aspire to groundbreaking research in high-resolution, non-destructive optical imaging methods and integrated computational-analysis strategies for disease diagnosis, prognostication, and clinical decision support. The successful candidate will collaborate with clinically active pathologists to develop groundbreaking, slide-free imaging solutions to advance computational pathology.

The Department of Pathology at Stanford University is one of the leading academic pathology departments in the US with approximately 120 faculty, among whom are a Nobel laureate, HHMI investigators, multiple members of the National Academies, and many faculty with other national distinctions. Stanford Pathology research has areas of focus that include anatomic pathology, immunology, genetics, cancer research, and neuroscience. We seek an innovative faculty member who will inspire and train the next generation of biomedical revolutionaries.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The successful applicant should have a Ph.D., D.Sc., and/or M.D. and an outstanding track record in research and teaching. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, a one-page research statement, a one-page teaching statement, and a three references to: https://facultypositions.stanford.edu/en-us/job/494689/assistant-associate-or-full-professor-of-pathology-research-pathology . Applications will be reviewed beginning 1 March 2024 and accepted until the position is filled.

The Pathology Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who will help foster an inclusive academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and outlooks. Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these ideals. Additional information about Stanford's IDEAL initiative may be found here: https://ideal.stanford.edu/about-ideal/diversity-statement.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

  Associate Professor: $215,000 - $253,500

  Professor: $244,000 – $322,500

It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. For more information about compensation and our wide-range of benefits, including housing assistance, please contact the hiring department.

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
