Description:
The trainer will be responsible for new hire training for all operationalpositions to ensure that each new hire has the basic skills to perform thetask correctly and safely. Additionally, provide advanced training to newhires and existing employees to better help with employee education anddevelopment. The trainer will report to the local Operations Manager. The goalof the position will be to enhance our new hire's orientation into ourbusiness, train/advance skillsets of existing employees, assist withtask training and evaluations. The individual will need to be experienced on awide variety of equipment and job duties associated with our industry. Alikely candidate will have spent time working at all levels of our operationsgroup or similar, be a leader, be safety minded, and have excellentcommunication skills.
Responsibilities:Train new and current asphalt, grading, and milling employees on allaspects of the positions they are performing...and how to perform the tasksafeProper use of required safety equipment: including personal safetyequipment...i.e., safety glasses, hardhat, steel toed shoes / boots,safety vests, fire extinguisher, Stretch and Flex program, etc.Train employees on how to use / complete: Hazard Recognitions, EquipmentInspections pre and post shift, and SLAM'D Reports and LOTOTO foroperators. Understanding and implementing MM Basic Safety Rules.Laborer positions - basic principles of how to use shovels, rakes, handtools, whackers, blowers, jackhammers, and all other related tools.Proper inspection and maintenance of each.Equipment positions (Asphalt pavers, rollers, loaders, graders, skidsteers, etc.) - ensure employees know the basic functions of each piecesof equipment that employee will be operating and look for opportunities totask train individuals that are ready for additional training to advance theirequipment knowledge / career development in construction. Provide feedbackon potential advancements of employees.Collaborate with fleet maintenance department for winter repair and troubleshoot operator error and or abuse with Foreman/SuperintendentsJob Site- & Site-Specific Training: Work Zone Safety, HazardRecognition, traffic patterns, loading / unloading procedures,customer service, community interaction, etc.Daily preventative maintenance inspections and record keeping on equipment.
Maintain a schedule to which you meet with trainees daily, weekly,monthly, and communicate progress with employee and management team.Develop and update training material as needed using convergence system andinternal systems.Maintain necessary training records updated through convergence system daily.Work collaboratively with other A&P Trainers to develop and refine trainingobjectives / procedures.Communicate regularly with local Operations Management Team on progression ofeach trainee.Complete all required training and certifications for the position. (Pavingby the #'s, Smith System, OSHA, WAH, Work Zone Safety)Assist with mentoring of current Safety Mentors.Eventually expand training needs to other departs - Logistics/DOT, AsphaltPlants, and Shops.Requirements:8+ years of experience in the asphalt industry.5+ years training experience.Effective presentation skills and ability to teach and communicate to otheremployees.Bilingual in Spanish a plus.Strong knowledge of asphalt products.Excellent driving, safety and attendance record.Exemplifies Leadership qualities and the ability to perform well in a teamenvironment.Self-motivator with an open mind and positive attitude.Ability to read, write and communicate clearly and effectively in English.Ability to operate Microsoft systems, excellent Power Point skills andability to create new innovative training presentations as needed. Ability tooperator Learning Management Systems.
