Your Role as a Cisco Solutions Validation Services (SVS) Engineer
In this role, you will be dedicated to customer-specific solution validation. Your responsibilities will include fine-tuning and testing designs, implementing security processes, controls, and configurations in an automated manner across a broad range of cutting-edge technologies.
Working with advanced security products, particularly our Firepower NGFW (Sourcefire) product line, you will have the opportunity to validate customer-specific solutions. Your work will positively impact Cisco customers every day.

As part of Cisco's Solution’s Validations Services Team (SVS), you will be amongst a group of elite technical specialists. SVS is committed to helping customers validate and deploy their business solutions effectively while ensuring a top-tier customer experience.
The SVS Security team, where your role lies, comprises technologists passionate about various subjects. Our culture thrives on collaboration and teamwork, and we continue to grow to better serve our Fortune 100 customers.
Who You Are
You excel at troubleshooting system, software, and networking problems and have an affinity for reproducing customer issues in a lab environment.
Documenting and creating customer-specific deliverables is a passion of yours, and you have the skills to lead complex technical discussions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
2-3 years of customer support experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong people skills and ability to collaborate effectively
Experience with Linux / UNIX command line tools / environment; Perl and/or bash shell scripting
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, network protocol, and packet analysis
Familiarity with Snort or another intrusion detection system
Experience in at least one of the following areas: Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Firewalls, Cisco Next Gen Firepower IPS (NGIPS), Cisco Next Gen Firepower Firewall (NGFW), Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), Cisco FireAmp (Advanced Malware protection), Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC), Cisco Security Manager (CSM), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Secure Integrated Software (IOS Firewalls), SSL (Security Sockets Layer) and SSH (Secure Shell), VPN and IPSEC protocols
Desired Skills
Experience with MySQL or another SQL database
Experience with Active Directory or other LDAP implementations
Experience with Snort / Python / Virtualization (VMware, Azure, AWS etc, Docker, GIT) / Wireshark / Linux / Windows
Automation of monitoring for security, using tools like Prometheus, Splunk, DataDog, etc.
Cybersecurity-related certification(s), such as CCSP, CISSP, CISM, CEH
