Description: The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health,College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of IllinoisUrbana-Champaign is seeking one new faculty hire to complement theDepartment\'s existing resear ch lines in Artificial Intelligence(AI) . This position was approved as part of a larger cluster hire inhire in AI for Community Health - involving multiple units at theUniversity of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Candidates must have a PhD orequivalent degree. This opportunity is part of an ambitious, ongoingcampus and college expansion in artificial intelligence. Candidates forthese positions could be either senior (Associate or Professor) orearly-career faculty (Assistant Professor). Successful candidates shouldhave (or demonstrate potential to have) a history of leading largeresearch groups and interdisciplinary collaborations, as well asdemonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring. We seek collaborativecandidates with a strong, innovative vision. Competitive start-uppackages exist for qualified candidates. The new hire will also helpadvance our self-supporting Master of Public Health (MPH), Master ofHealth Administration (MHA), and Master of Science in Health Technology(MS-HT).
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in Public Health,Epidemiology, Community Health, Psychology, Kinesiology, otherhealth-related fields, or in a field related to AI such as HumanFactors, Computer Science, Engineering, or Robotics. A strong record ofacademic scholarship that meets the qualifications for the rank ofAssistant, Associate, or Professor at the University of Illinois isrequired.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally, candidates would demonstrate a focused line of research in oneor more of the following areas: (a) health data analytics; (b) physicalactivity measurement for research and intervention purposes; (c) use ofwearable technologies to monitor and manage chronic conditions,cognition or symptoms that predict advancement of disease; (d) use of AIto support healthcare decision-making, (e) machine learning to evaluatedata from smart technologies in the home to predict health and wellnessoutcomes; (f) integration of AI and robotics to support in-homeactivities; (g) ethics of AI.
