Description

We are seeking an AR Specialist to join our team in Moraga, California.

Responsibilities:

Position responsible for billing and collection of over $120m in tuition and $18m in housing

Create and test Rate Tables for tuition and housing charges

Running daily biller for two academic calendars ensuring accuracy of records

Ensure charges and billing align with established accounting schedule

Create and launch monthly payment plans with third-party vendor Touchnet

Reconcile end-of-day files of tuition and non-tuition transactions

Disburse financial aid through the FA Transmittal Register

Process refunds as per federal regulations, including Title IV and VA

Work closely with Athletics Compliance Department to issue monthly athletic stipends

Handle customer service inquiries from students, parents, faculty

Reconcile cash drawers and petty cash fund in alignment with office procedures

Produce reports based on tuition revenue, restriction codes, or clearance codes

Assist with reconciling the meal plan invoice, student travel programs and student health insurance invoice

Coordinate with collection agencies for delinquent accounts

Authorize special bills for various military agencies and third parties

Collaborate with Enrollment Management to improve student experience

Train student workers and other support staff

Assume department responsibilities in the absence of Director

Assist with other projects such as annual audit, production of tax forms, uncashed checks, and billing for student health insurance.

Requirements

Education: REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree PREFERRED: Master's

Experience: Three years of higher education experience managing a heavy and complex workload that impacts financial operations, accounts receivables, audit and federal regulations, and effectively meets departmental objectives. Knowledge of FERPA, Title IV regulations, Red flag rules, A-133 rules. Cash handling or payment processing experience. Knowledge of Ellucian's Colleague desired but not required.

Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of accounting standards. Must be able to communicate professionally and clearly. Excellent customer service skills. It is essential that this position handle sensitive and difficult situations with composure and in an effective manner. Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and handle high volumes of data. Critical thinking and sound decision-making in ambiguous situations Maintain confidentiality. Demonstrates initiative. Spanish is desired but not required.

Other Requirements: (e.g. travel, weekend/evening work) Evening and weekend work required during peak times.
