Pay Range :
The Social Ministries Assistant is a part-time position that encompasses a wide variety of tasks including, assisting with food distribution, data entry and database coordination, answering phones, assisting clients with basic social service needs, and general office tasks as needed. Must have experience in communications and clerical work. Prior work/volunteer experience with The Salvation Army preferred.

Must be able to safely lift, load and unload boxes, supplies and other items up to 35lbs
Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, timely, professional, team-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in high-paced setting
Strong customer service skills; cooperative and sociable with public
Intermediate skills in data entry, MS Word and Excel
Skills in database coordination a plus
Must be able to use office equipment (phone, printer, fax, etc)
Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License preferred
Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
Bilingual, Spanish or Cape Verdean Creole, preferred.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer phone calls from clients and provide information regarding food distribution or referral to other locations.
Welcoming clients and giving directions and assistance as needed
Prepare various intake forms, keep case records, and maintain confidentiality of records and interviews.
Provide information and referral services to clients.
Manage and produce lists/reports/statistics to track food distribution, food purchase, and other social service assistance programs using Excel, Word.
Accurately and efficiently enter client information into data base.
Manage onsite supplies, signage, collateral materials etc.
Assist Social Ministries staff with logistics and communications during distributions.
Keep records on all contacts and provide reports as required.
Attend meetings as required.
Filing and copying
Provide EDS support as needed, including, but not limited to, loading, unloading, packing, distributing, and ordering supplies.
Assist in maintaining a clean social service office and front lobby
Other responsibilities as assigned by Social Ministries Manager or Corps Officer(s).
