JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The Application Specialist is theprimary technical resource in IT Services for the administration andday-to-day support of their assigned applications. They provideanalysis, testing, troubleshooting, report writing, and assistance withsoftware implementations and upgrades. They are a liaison between ITServices and other University departments and the campus at large. TheApplication Specialist for learning technology provides guidance andsupport to faculty, students, and staff in the University\'s learningmanagement system, D2L Brightspace, and video streaming solution,Panopto, and related technologies. This may involve troubleshootingtechnical issues, requirements gathering, process design andimprovement, and automation. The App Specialist engages other resourcesin IT Services and vendor support services as needed for troubleshootingand system maintenance. The App Specialist works with the ApplicationManager to ensure proper planning, coordination, and communication bothinside and outside IT Services. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Learn,analyze, and support the D2L Brightspace and Panopto applications.Engage vendor support as needed. 2. Provide guidance to end users in theuse of the D2L Brightspace and Panopto applications. Collaborate withend users on requirements gathering, design, and implementation of newsolutions in those applications. Troubleshoot issues and implement newfeatures in the applications in response to changing business needs. 3.Work in project teams to support the upgrade of current systems andimplementation of new software. 4. Provide subject matter expertise toIT Services management and others. Create documentation as needed. 5.Learn and provide backup coverage for Application Specialists in otherareas. 6. Comply with FERPA and HIPAA policies and alert IT Servicesmanagement to compliance issues and concerns. Comply with ITS changemanagement procedures. 7. Keep abreast of technology trends andcolleague organizations in areas affecting their applications. Thismight include participation in online communities, meetings, andtraining opportunities. 8. Perform other duties and responsibilities asrequired, assigned, or requested. Bachelor\'sDegree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or arelated field. Ability to evaluate business processes and technicalfunctionality to establish and communicate best practices to anapplication\'s user groups.
