This position will focus on product development including technical interface with customer engineers, new product design, and supporting the Tenneco Ride Performance manufacturing division and program managers for the successful launch of shock absorber, strut, and suspension module products.
Responsibilities include:Meet with customers in an application engineering role to learn technical requirements for new business opportunities.Develop and optimize high value, cost effective new part or system designs based on customer requirements and Tenneco engineering and manufacturing capabilities.Independently develop and deliver design presentations to customer that demonstrates how Tenneco can meet their needs.Coordinate testing, design, DVP&R and FMEA's, drawings and BOM's and support prototype builds.Provide support to the manufacturing production facility to launch new products and resolve technical issues.Lead analysis of customer field returns, and support warranty return analysis.Ensure compliance with customer drawings and specifications as well as Government regulations. Resolve requirement issues directly with customer engineers.Participate in NPIS/APQP program launch meetings.Support manufacturing facilities in developing PFMEA's and control plans.Required Skills:Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, especially statics, fluid dynamics, & product design.Sound written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write concise reports for various levels of management.Excellent organizational and team skills.Good computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Project.Some experience in CAD is preferred.Flexible to some travel.
Required Experience:BS in Mechanical EngineeringMS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.3 years minimum experience in product design and development. (Will consider recent college graduate.)
