Summary:
Conducts simple vivo studies in animals. This research position may involve a wide variety of duties, including: preparation of diets; collecting and assaying samples; conducting and/or assisting in surgeries; collecting data; performing non-invasive studies in indirect calorimetry; body composition and bone composition; assisting in the development of new procedures. Quality work and high productivity are mandatory.

Description
Conducts experiments & sample analysis using laboratory equipment. Quantitates various nutrients, chemicals, drug, and/or metabolites as needed.
Maintains data and procedural notes on procedures and laboratory equipment.
Ensure that experiments are conducted as planned and that potential problems are recognized and prevented as early as possible.
Using SOPs, prepares and modifies animal diets, conducts animal studies, and follows regular schedule of feeding, watering and cage care.
Performs animal surgeries & implements new techniques as needed.
Operates analytical equipment (especially the UEC analyzer). Maintains proper maintenance of equipment and knows when equipment needs repair.
Trains others on proper sanitation of animal rooms, and on proper operation of equipment.
Performs other duties as instructed or assigned.
