  Overall Job Summary

  This position is primarily responsible for developing and executing strategies to optimize the profitability of our vendor base through ongoing vendor management and annual joint business planning with Buyers, VP/DMMs, and GMMs. This role involves developing and maintaining a database of vendor profitability, vendor scorecards, TSC cost policies, vendor negotiation chessboards, vendor playbooks, and providing overall analytical support in all vendor cost and terms negotiations.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  Actively analyze the underlying freight, labor, and other commodity components of all TSC merchandise provided by our vendors to develop and execute strategies to optimize the profitability of our vendor base.

  Become a functional expert in merchandising business data, which includes but is not limited to defining data elements, providing input on data structure, creating & maintaining business reporting, and aiding in training documentation as needed.

  Maintains database of all underlying cost components of TSC products and actively track the movement of the underlying indices to provide analytics on how TSC vendor cost relates to the movement of these indices.

  Responsible for data pulls and the creation of vendor review scorecards, working closely with merchant teams, merchandising leadership, and VMO leadership in the interpretation of vendor data.

  Tracks all vendor cost adjustment requests and conducts commodity assessment analytics for all vendor cost change requests.

  Work with CSPI Manager to provide proactive commodity input analytics for merchandising and proposes new merchandising opportunities to Senior Merchandising leadership.

  Development of vendor chessboards and vendor playbooks for the merchant teams to aid in the negotiation of cost, payment terms, vendor business allocation, and the optimization of landed margin.

  Supports buyers in the process of developing tasks and assessing consequences/opportunities of each vendor negotiation.

  Provides analytical support in evaluation of vendor counter responses during active negotiations.

  Responsible for tracking and verification of vendor funding.

  Conducts vendor deal package preparation.

  Required Qualifications

  Experience: 3+ years’ experience in Retail Analytics or related business.

  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Finance or equivalent from an accredited college or university. MBA or other advanced degree (e.g. CPA) in a related field (Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Business, Marketing, Economics, or the equivalent) strongly preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

  Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  Knowledge of trade terms, typical funding/trade structures.

  Credibility across categories and business functions.

  Strategic and critical thinking skills, strong analytical capabilities.

  Ability to translate analytical data into business / vendor strategies.

  Expertise with visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau

  Expertise with large data sets and relational databases

  Proficient in MS Office Suite

  Strong problem solving, communication, organization, and multi-tasking skills

  Retail Experience preferred

  Strong presentation Skills and cross functional team interaction required

  Work within critical deadlines and completing task with a sense of urgency

  Detail oriented

  Speak, read, and write effectively in the English language

  Negotiation skills and ability to positively handle conflict required.
