About AMERS Datacenter Development Portfolio Director

  As we continue expanding into existing and new geographies in the Americas (AMERs) we are seeking an individual with the ability to manage and drive consistency on the portfolio of projects in the Build .

  The AMERS Datacenter Development Portfolio Director will direct and oversee the operational activities of the AMERs Datacenter Development (DCD) team in alignment with AMERS Regional Director of Construction objectives. This includes planning and overseeing construction execution, safety, policies, rules, and goals. The candidate will generally operate as the DCD second in command, reporting to the AMERs Construction Lead and will focus on the operationalization of the defined strategy.

  This role will be to supplement the AMERs Construction Lead, to enhance the leadership across the Region and provide greater bandwidth with respect to standardization and troubleshooting and will be responsible for most operational function’s, health and safety, construction delivery, cost oversight and accountable for all construction delivery across the region.

  The candidate will also work closely and liaise with the AMERs Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) leads and the Central Functions lead to enhance innovation, to promote cross functional learnings to continue improving the delivery.

  Responsibilities

  Core responsibilities include:

  Assessing and minimizing risks to the business through AMERS wide Construction delivery execution strategy decisions in close collaboration with the AMERS EPC functions

  Reviewing overall construction cost management and Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) values for the Region to ensure project is performing as expected and that forecasts are accurate for additional funding requests.

  Assessing and supporting the work of the sub-regional teams with respect to project delivery under the 5 main pillars of Safety, Quality, Schedule Performance, Cost Management and Environmental/Community engagement targeting consistency across the region. Implement consequent actions to improve/recover in coordination with the AMERS Construction Lead.

  Working in partnership with regional supply chain to onboard new members.

  Support the regional construction lead with effective onboarding of the new employees.

  Assessing and tracking the performance of the AMERS construction team and supporting the team in successfully reaching its goals.

  Performing constructability review during the early design phase.

  Monitoring delivery performance and developing plans to improve in line with strategic objectives.

  Working closely with the regional scheduling lead and EPC functional team to support the development of a backward pass construction schedule. This includes an understanding of permit and power availability to ensure effective construction mobilization timeline and Integrated Systems Test (IST) delivery.

  Working with the cost and estimating teams to develop budgets to ensure that the projects have all the resources required to meet their objectives within agreed financial parameters.

  Driving health and safety across the organization as a core value.

  Leading and motivating staff to achieve organizational objectives.

  Empowering the DCD team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete delivery initiatives.

  Provide support and undertake safety walks and reviews across projects as required and on a regular basis.

  Deputize the AMERS Construction Lead and subregional leads when needed.

  In addition, the Portfolio Director will assist the AMERS Construction Lead in:

  The development of the AMERS DCD short and long-term strategy, ensuring alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.

  Support construction decisions and managing the overall operations and resources of the AMERS DCD Team

  Monitoring the overall DCD performance with the AMERS EPC organization and how the teams work together to achieve overall goals.

  Implementing strategies, together with the EPC team, to determine the strategic direction for the Region.

  Promoting a positive culture in the DCD team developing and upholding the culture and mission/vision.

  Building and maintain trusting relationships with key stakeholders.

  Qualifications

  Required Qualifications:

  Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience

  OR equivalent experience.

  Other Requirements:

  Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:

  Experience managing large scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams.

  Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects.

  Experience in datacenter project construction with large-scale datacenters or datacenter lease providers.

  Cconstruction execution experience.

  Client or Contractor side onsite Datacenter construction or management experience.

  Construction Project Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
