Job Summary:
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Airworthiness Discipline Chief for the Military Engines Airworthiness Office to serve as the primary technical authority on execution of the airworthiness process for all our products. This role represents an exciting new approach to airworthiness at P&W, with a dedicated team devoted specifically to the airworthiness discipline, assisting programs with execution of US Government customer deliverables regarding planning and collection of artifacts that demonstrate compliance to agreed Airworthiness criteria. Focus will be on teaming with Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) and other disciplines to meet airworthiness objectives, with emphasis on training and reinforcement of the elements of Airworthiness in alignment with Safety and Requirements Management disciplines; mentoring & guiding airworthiness practitioners both within the Airworthiness Office and within the CIPTs; and participating in technical conversations with US Government customers. End goal is to ensure CIPT generation of airworthiness assessment artifacts as agreed with customer & stakeholders at project inception, and appropriate risk planning where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary technical advisor to P&W internal groups for assisting our US Government customers achieve a Military Flight Release (MFR) or Military Type Certificate (MTC) for new programs, Component Improvement Programs, and engineering changes.
Negotiate resolution of internal differences regarding airworthiness plans, certification basis, and compliance.
Represent P&W in major program reviews as necessary.
Develop & administer Airworthiness training.
Participate in and guide implementation of airworthiness elements of model-based engineering systems.
Lead generation & maintenance of Airworthiness procedures and Engineering Knowledge System work instructions.
Guide and mentor junior members of the Airworthiness Office in execution of their program-specific airworthiness duties.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
12+ years of experience in military Airworthiness and/or civil certification and/or engineering & requirements management; OR an advanced degree with 10+ years of experience in military Airworthiness and/or civil certification and/or engineering & requirements management.
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
Experience working with one or more gas turbine engine subsystems and their architecture, performance, validation, and analysis.
Proficiency with MIL-HDBK-516 and related US government/industry publications, and execution of core airworthiness deliverables.
Experience interfacing with US Government customers regarding challenging program deliverables and risk negotiation.
Ability to effectively communicate, lead, influence, and coordinate across teams in strategic projects and initiatives.
Prior team leadership experience, and willingness to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Experience executing Agile project management concepts.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
