  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As part of this role, your main responsibility will be to thoroughly review and assess plan approval and operating permit applications that have been submitted for the purpose of constructing, modifying, and operating air contamination sources and control devices. Based on your review of these applications, you will then provide recommendations to the Regional Program Manager and the Environmental Engineer Manager regarding whether to issue or deny the plan approvals and operating permits. It is important to note that in order to meet licensure requirements, you will be working under the supervision and guidance of a licensed engineer who is responsible for the Air Quality Program in the Southwest Regional Office. If you are hired as an Air Quality Engineering Trainee, you will have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive one-year on-the-job training program, which will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out the duties of this specialist position.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment.

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  Travel required for site visits.

  Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.

  Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  One year of professional experience in air quality engineering or environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or

  Two years of professional experience in air quality engineering or environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or

  Successful completion of the training program for Air Quality Engineering Trainee; or

  One year of professional experience in air quality engineering or environmental engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering.

  Condition of Employment:

  This position requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.
