This application encompasses maintaining anoperating hop farm machinery and equipment as well as irrigationequipment and systems. Workers will also do farm labor duties and assistwith hop harvest. This job requires a minimum of three months ofagricultural equipment operator experience. The lifting requirement forthis position is 60 pounds.
The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due tothe nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops tocustomers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more ordifferent hours than those listed. A worker may be offered more than thespecified hours of work, however the worker will not be required to workfor more than the number of hours specified in the job order, or on theworkers Sabbath or Federal holidays. Saturday work may be required.
Employer-paid drug test is required if a worker has an accident at work.
If light duty work is assigned for a workers compensation injury, theworker will be expected to return to work and perform the light dutywork upon advice from a physician and the workers compensation insurancecompany.
Work day start times vary depending on the weather. depending on thetime of year, hours of daylight, and production requirements. Workersmust be able to work varying shifts as required by the season and workperformed. Workers are notified of any change in the start times. Workmay be performed during rain, light snow, cold, freezing temperaturesand/or in high humidity and in temperatures over a 100 degrees F. Workermay be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew/rain andshould have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions.
Full Growing Season Commitment: The job offered requires that the workerbe available for work every day that work is available for the fullperiod of employment. The worker agrees to be available for work andperform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work isavailable through the full period of employment.
Training: There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workerswith job specification.

Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors whenmachinery malfunctions.
*Maintain and operate drip irrigation equipment. Record irrigationtimes and evaluate need for repairs and adjustments to the irrigationsystem.
Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipmentmalfunctions.
Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions or powders intosprayer machinery.
Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such astractors, combines, hop harvesting equipment (top cutters, bottomcutters, picking machines) and irrigation equipment.
Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms onmachinery.
Load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products,using forklifts, transfer augers or shovels.
Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters totractors, using bolts and hand tools.
Operate towed machines to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops.
Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers.
Load and unload crops or containers of materials, manually or usingconveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers.
Assist in hop harvest duties.
Workers may also do weeding, as well as clear debris and garbage fromfields and clean/maintain farm buildings, structures, equipment, andwork areas.
Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs.
Hop Harvest:
Hop harvest is a physically demanding job. Hop bines can scratch andirritate skin. Workers will need to dress in long sleeve shirts andpants and wear gloves and ye protection.
Hop harvest, from approximately August 25 October 7, is a 24/7 job.Workers may have to work some night shifts.
Hop Harvester Mechanic: Must observe picking machine and make sure it isrunning properly. Must keep track of all tools used and make suremachine is off when performing maintenance on any part of the machine.
Worker must make sure all parts are lubricated and running properly.
Hop Bine Hanger/Bottom Feeder: Job consists of unloading hop trucks at astationary harvesting machine. Hanging bines is physically demanding andrequires the employee to grab, lift, and place the ends of the hop bineson the hooks that transfer the bines from the truck bed to theharvesting apparatus.
Hop Truck Driver: Job consists of driving the hop truck into the field.The truck is loaded with hop bines and then returns to the harvestfacility and carries out the duties of bine hanger/bottom feeder.
Top Feeder: Job consists of the worker guiding hops into the machine,ensuring that they dont get tangled, the machine doesnt get jammed, andis running at capacity at all times. Assist machine mechanics in generalmaintenance and upkeep as directed.
Bine Pick-Up: Walk rows after they have been harvested to pick up fallenhop bines that did not make it into hop trailers. Pile bines in fieldand place in trailers.
Sweeper: Will use brooms to sweep fallen hops to bottom conveyor. Mustkeep processing area clean at all times.
