The Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology at The University of Chicagois consistently ranked among the best specialty nationally by U.S Newsand World Report. With nearly 30 specialists on staff, our program playsa leading role in the understanding of digestive diseases and indeveloping innovative and successful treatments for patients. Sinceforming the nation\'s first full-time department of gastroenterology in1927, our physicians have continually improved treatments for digestivetract and related disorders by combining medical research, education,and patient care at the highest level.
Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider reports to the Director of The Center forLiver Diseases in the Section of Gastroenterology and/or assignedSupervising Physician(s), Section Administration and attendingphysicians assigned (monthly) to the service.
Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive care to both outpatients and inpatientswithin Gastroenterology practices, working within the PracticeGuideline.Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, usingadvanced clinical skills to manage a caseload of patients as anindependent healthcare provider.Conducts assessment, diagnosis, initiation of delegated medicaltreatments, independent nursing interventions and evaluation ofcare, in addition to certain diagnostic and/or therapeuticprocedures.Provides a model of care that is shaped by theory, expanded byscience, research and reflective practice, and is identified by aholistic and comprehensive approach to the patients.Establishes appropriate priorities of care.Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account thebenefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness forthe patient, family and the organization.Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions neededto achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient\'s plan of care.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from anaccredited school/college.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through acombination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant workexperience in a related job discipline.

Certifications:
Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registrationrequired. Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through theMedical Staff Office (MSO). - State of Illinois
