GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Administrative Support Specialist II performs record keeping and other intermediate clerical duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Receive and receipt money for accounts and deposit fundsOrder supplies, check invoices, and maintain inventoryType letters, memos, reports, bulletins, requisitions, invoices, schedules, manuals, student files, and recordsProcess mail, answer telephone, meet the public, and provide informationOperate standard office machinesPrepare and maintain various school, pupil, teacher, and program filesPrepare and maintain payroll and personnel recordsMaintain registers, attendance and grade records, and reportsPrepare grade, attendance, and transcript recordsProvide transcripts and other information to colleges and other agenciesAdminister minor first aid in absence of the School NursePerform intermediate clerical and routine technical work requiring a qualified typistPrepare and maintain fiscal and related records in areas designated by the PrincipalPerform other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable progressively responsible experience in clerical and/or accounting workThorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipmentThorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmeticKnowledge of school system routines, banking procedures, payroll and personnel procedures, and financial record keepingGeneral knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods, and proceduresGeneral knowledge of basic first aid practicesAbility to develop and follow detailed work proceduresAbility to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speedAbility to meet the public effectivelyAbility to work independently in the absence of specific instructionAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with othersExcellent oral and written communication skillsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in business, typing and bookkeeping and some experience in clerical and/or accounting workAssociate's Degree or higher preferred
